FAQ #7
Q.
The
Users Manual says to set my oven flow rate to 100 cc/min. Why?
A. The
design of some KIN-TEK gas standards
generators splits the carrier gas flow into two portions. One portion
(oven flow)
goes through the oven and sweeps across the permeation tube to
pick up analyte gas permeated from the tube and carries it to a point
where it
combines with the other larger portion of carrier gas called the
dilution flow. Using approximately 100 cc/min of oven
flow ensures that the permeating analyte is being carried out of the
oven and through the
system.
KIN-TEK advises not to exceed 250 cc/min of oven flow and not
to set less than 50 cc/min of oven flow.
