Our History

KIN-TEK is a privately held Texas Corporation founded in 1970 by J. J. (Jim) McKinley to develop and market instrumentation systems and accessories for analytical chemistry. Headquartered on the Gulf coast in La Marque, Texas, USA, the company serves a broad range of industrial, institutional, and governmental clients world-wide.

When KIN-TEK was founded in 1970, the petrochemical industry was beginning to move into process and product quality control using automated, on-line analytical instrumentation. Two critical problems in these efforts were the development of effective sample acquisition techniques and calibration techniques for trace concentrations of reactive molecules. KIN-TEK applied proprietary "gas permeation" technology to both of these problems. The calibration application became the preferred standard technique.

KIN-TEK pioneered the development of the "The Permeation Tube Method" that evolved into the core competency of the company. The Permeation Tube Method is based on fundamental principles that provide a unique, direct path for traceability of the resulting mixture concentration to NIST for a wide range of compounds through weight, temperature and flow standards.
