Disposable Permeation Tubes

KIN-TEK Trace Source™ disposable permeation tubes [brochure] are:

  • Polymer membranes about the size of a pencil containing the liquid phase of the component compound

  • Popular because they are small and convenient to use.

I. Standard Rate Disposable Permeation Tubes
SRT Standard Rate Disposable Permeation Tubes
 

SRT standard rate disposable permeation tubes generate moderate concentrations of high vapor pressure compounds. These compounds include SO2, H2S, NH3, Cl2, etc. Additionally, SRT permeation tubes can generate very low concentrations of low vapor pressure compounds such as carbon disulfide, methylene chloride and nitric acid. Typical emission rates yield concentrations of 1 to 10 ppm depending on the compound, operating temperature and dilution flow rate.

SRT-2 Standard Rate Disposable Permeation Tubes
 

SRT-2 disposable permeation tubes can generate moderate concentrations of high vapor pressure compounds such as Cl2, NO2 and NH3. These tubes can be used at temperatures up to 50°C. Typical emission rates yield concentrations of sub-ppm to 5 ppm depending on the compound, operating temperature and dilution flow rate.

II. HRT High Rate Disposable Permeation Tubes

HRT permeation tubes can generate moderate concentrations of low vapor pressure compounds. These compounds include C2H5SH, CCl4, acrylonitrile, benzene, styrene and water. HRT tubes are also used for generating high concentrations of SO2, CH3SH and other moderate vapor pressure compounds. Typical emission rates yield concentrations of 1 to 20 ppm, depending on the compound, operating temperature and dilution flow rate.

III. Extra Life Disposable Permeation Tubes

Extra life (EL) permeation tubes are designed to have a longer operating life than other disposable tubes and are recommended for special compounds.

ELHRT permeation tubes are used for generating moderate concentrations of low vapor pressure compounds such as C2H5SH, benzene, and water, and for generating high concentration mixtues of SO2, CH3SH and other moderate vapor pressure compounds. Typical emission rates yield concentrations of 1 to 10 ppm, depending on the compound, operating temperature and dilution flow rate.

ELSRT Extra Life Standard Rate Disposable Permeation Tubes
 

ELSRT permeation tubes are used for generating moderate concentrations of high vapor pressure compounds such as SO2, H2S, NH3, and Cl2, and for generating very low concentrations of low vapor pressure compounds such as benzene, acrolein, and water. Typical emission rates yield concentrations of 1 to 5 ppm, depending on the compound, operating temperature and dilution flow rate.

ELSRT-2 Extra Life Standard Rate Disposable Permeation Tubes
  ELSRT-2 permeation tubes are used for generating low to moderate concentrations of high vapor pressure compounds such as Cl2, NO2 and NH3. Typical emission rates yield concentrations of sub-ppm to 2.5 ppm, depending on the compound, operating temperature and dilution flow rate. This type of tube is also used for field service where higher operating temperatures may be required.

 

Refillable Permeation Tubes

KIN-TEK Trace Source™ refillable permeation tubes [Brochure]:

  • Have a broader concentration range than the Trace Source™ disposable permeation tubes.

  • Are recommended for long-term use and special applications requiring a wide range of calibration points.

  • Are available for chemicals that are not typically suitable for disposable permeation tubes such as CO, CO2, NO, methane, ethane, arsine & phosphine.

  • Emission rate of the tube membrane is certified by the Factory

  • Most tubes are periodically returned to KIN-TEK for refill and recertification.

LFH Liquid-filled 57S and 57H Gas-filled 57 Series Prefilled

 

I. LFH Liquid-Filled Permeation Tubes

Generate moderate to high concentration mixtures of low vapor pressure liquids such as acrylonitrile, benzene, methanol and water.
Are usually filled by KIN-TEK before shipment but may be filled by the customer (with appropriate safety measures in place) for certain components (contact the Factory)
Tube dimensions: 1¾ inch diameter by 6 inch height plus approx. 2 inch height of protruding tubing
   

II. 57S Gas-Filled Permeation Tubes

Generate low concentration gas standards of high vapor pressure gases such as CO, CO2, NO, N2O, CH4 etc.
Typical concentrations: sub-ppb to 10 ppm depending on tube emission rate and dilution flow rate
Are usually filled by KIN-TEK but may optionally be filled by the customer (with appropriate safety measures in place) for certain components (contact the Factory). Customer-refill may require a gas feed "GF" module of the 491M or FlexStream gas standards generator.
Tube dimensions: 1¾ inch diameter by 6 inch height plus approx. 2 inch height of protruding tubing
 

III. 57H Gas-Filled Permeation Tubes

Generate high concentration mixtures of high vapor pressure gases CO, CO2, and NO
Typical concentrations: 10 ppm to over 1,000 ppm depending on tube emission rate, dilution flow rate and operating pressure
Are filled by the customer using the controls of a gas feed "GF" module of a KIN-TEK 491M or FlexStream gas standards generator.
Tube dimensions: 1¾ inch diameter by 6 inch height plus approx. 2 inch height of protruding tubing
   

IV. Prefilled Permeation Tubes

Series 57 Prefilled permeation tubes are used in KIN-TEK gas standards generators to create gas standards ranging from less than 50 ppb to 5 ppm (depending on tube emission rate and dilution flow rate) for arsine and other hydride gases, as well as highly reactive gases such as HCl, HBr, O2 and CO. The high vapor pressure of these compounds makes them unsuitable for use in disposable permeation tubes. [Brochure]

V. Refill and Recertification

Return (with RMA number) to KIN-TEK Technical Services for refill and recertification.
